bright lights kids mentoring
Mentors have a positive impact in the lives of bright lights kids
What's it like to be a mentor?
Being a mentor is different for everyone, but in the end, it’s what you put into it. Being a mentor means showing up faithfully in that child’s life and just walking with them. Being that support system everyone needs to have. Our mentors LOVE coming and seeing their kids. The kids ask every time “is my tutor here?” or “is my mentor coming tonight?” The kids save seats for their tutor/mentor at dinner and can’t wait to tell them about their day!
At-risk children who had a mentor were:
-
55% more likely to enroll in college
-
52% less likely to skip school
-
37% less likely to skip class
-
130% more likely to hold leadership positions
-
46% less likely to use drugs
-
27% less likely to drink alcohol
-
81% more likely to participate in extracurricular activities
